The Voice Memos App
Voice Memos turns your iOS device into a portable audio recorder, making it easy to capture and share notes, lectures, and more. Editing tools such as trim and replace let you fine-tune your recordings.
Recording
You can record using the built-in microphone, a Bluetooth headset, or a compatible external microphone.
Choose compressed or un-compressed audio formats.
Automatically name recordings based on your location.
iCloud support to keep your recordings and edits in sync across your devices.
Create a Recording
1. Open the Voice Memo App
2. Double-tap the Record button to begin recording (the record button turns into the stop button), or use the Magic Tap.
3. Double-tap the Stop button to end recording when you are finished, or use the Magic Tap.
Edit
Pinch-to-zoom for more precision when editing.
Trim your recordings to save just the portion you want.
Replace and resume to fine-tune your recordings.
Enhance Recording reduces background noise and room reverberation with a single tap.
Trim a recording with VoiceOver
1. Double-tap the recording you want to trim.
2. Double-tap the More Actions button.
3. Double-tap the Edit Recording button.
4. Double-tap the Trim button.
5. In the Waveform Overview, Select Trim Beginning or Trim End, then Swipe Up or Down with One Finger to adjust the start or end time.
6. Double-tap the Trim button.
7. Double-tap the Save button.
8. Double-tap the Done button.
Organize
Search for files.
Create folders for your recordings.
Mark recordings as Favorites to find them later.
Listen and share
Speed Up or Slow Down the playback of your recordings, or jump 15 seconds forward or back.
The Skip Silence button analyzes your recording and skips over any gaps in your audio.
Share your recordings.
Voice Memos for Apple Watch
Capture new recordings right from your wrist and automatically sync across your iPhone, iPad, or Mac with iCloud.
Listen to your most recent recordings through the built-in speaker on Apple Watch or connect a bluetooth device.
Rename recordings with Dictation or Handwriting.
