iOS Lesson 13B: Cooking Ratios — Learn Ratios by Saving Dinner

ConceptWhat is a ratio?

A ratio compares two quantities. Example: 2:3 means “2 parts of the first thing for every 3 parts of the second thing.”

Equivalent ratios keep the same relationship. If you multiply both sides by the same number, it stays equivalent: 2:3 is equivalent to 4:6.

Purpose: the show’s recipes only work if the ratios stay correct. If the ratio breaks, the judges will taste regret.

Ratios can be written in different ways: 2:3, 2 to 3, or 2/3 (depending on the context). In recipes, we usually mean “parts,” not division.
