iOS Lesson 4.1: Three and Four Finger Gestures

Your doing great and have learned so much, but wait... there's more! Next we will look at the Three and Four Finger gestures which will give you more efficient ways to move around your screen, read text, and use apps.

The Three Finger Left, Right, Up, and Down Swipes allows you to move through multi-page documents.

Three Finger Left and Right Swipes navigate between your Home Screens (you can have more than one) and allow you to scroll across wide documents such as a spreadsheet.

Three Finger Up and Down Swipes moves through the pages of a text document or on a long webpage.

Here is another gesture for you: the Four Finger Single Tap near the top of the screen is a quick way to move the cursor to the first item on the screen.

Tap four fingers again near the bottom of the screen to jump to the last item on the screen.

This is a great way to move around the screen quickly; sometimes it is faster to jump to the top or bottom of the screen and swipe from there, rather than swiping all the way through to get where you want to be on the screen.

It is more efficient to use the right command when you need it.

Let's try it out, click the link below to go to the next page and read the classic story by Rudyard Kipling.

Note: Make sure to practice using the gestures you have learned after you read it.
