iOS Lesson 2.2: The Two Finger Magic Tap

Hi there, your doing great; you'll will get this! I hope you were able to get better at making gestures in the VoiceOver Practice area; you can use it as much as you need to gain confidence as you develop these skills. The best gestures are made with confident movements.

The next gesture that we will talk about here is the Two Finger Double Tap, or the Magic Tap.

The Magic Tap is a contextual command, what it does changes depending on where you use it. If your iPhone is ringing and you use a Two Finger Double Tap, you will answer the call; it will also hang up the call when you are finished speaking.

The Magic Tap will also take a photo, or start, pause, or resume a video recording.

The Magic Tap will Start and Stop Dictation when your cursor is editing text in a Text Edit Field.

Let's try it out, move to the text field below and use the Magic Tap to start Dictation, , and then use the Magic Tap again to stop Dictation and insert the text into the field. How neat is this?

Great, how did that work? You've got this!

Let's try one last thing here, if your phone isn't ringing and you're not in a text field, you can use the Magic Tap to control the last media player that you used on your device. This could be the Music app, Podcasts, or even your favorite audiobook player. It's a great way to quickly get your stuff playing.

Try it out now, use the Magic Tap and see if your media player starts playing, you can use it again to stop the media player.

If it didn't start anything playing, make a pledge to yourself that you will get something to listen to on your device. You can try Audiobooks, or the Music, Podcasts, or iHeart Radio apps. They would all be controlled by the Magic Tap.
